Change

(WBZ) Today we talk about change, that point of turning when everything is different.

Steve Santagati-
We begin with advice from one of the pop culture's most popular bad boys, Steve Santagati, the author of the Manual, the inside scoop on what men really think about relationships.
Ladies, if you want a man, Steve says you may have some changing to do.

Dan Shaughnessy-
Dan Shaughnessy has seen it all. He's gotten us through Super Bowls, World Series, Stanley cup finals, NBA championships and Ryder Cups. Dan is an award winning columnist, television and radio personality and author has focused his writing skills on his son Sam in his new book Senior Year. Dan joins us in studio.

Reading Program-
While it is the best job in the world, there is nothing easy about parenting. Despite all the resources and books written on, it is the hardest job you could ever do. Think how tough it must be for families with few resources, who are poor, with limited education, or language issues. That's why the work done through the Parent-Child Home Program sponsored by the Newton Community Center is so important. One of the main goals of the program is to help families prepare their youngest children for school.

HANDBAG GIFTS-
Throughout history, women have searched for the best, most attractive and effective way to carry our stuff. Today, handbags are more popular than ever. We welcome Amy Cafazzo from Marshall's who has brought some of the latest fashion bags.
And we'd like to thank our good friends at Homegoods for providing our Christmas decorations…. Really gets us in the holiday mood.

JUST THINKING
Our holiday dinner was almost over when I realized that I'd made it through an entire meal without reminding my son to take his elbows off the table…not to grab the bread without passing it first and not to eat the ham with his hands.
Was my eyesight failing, had I forgotten to pay attention,…was I losing my grip? As we served the coffee and dessert, it began to dawn on me that I may not have lost my grip but it was certainly changing. And it all happens so fast.
One day you're bending down to help them tie their shoes and the next day they're bending over to give you a hug. One minute you're screaming at them to clean up their rooms, and the next they're heading off to their own apartment.
The poet said it best,…our children are not our own, they come through us but are not from us
One day across the dinner table you are startled to discover they have become what you hoped for and are on their way to their time.
And while you loosen your grip, your heart tightens up a bit, aching with longing and pride.
