Heart
Today on Sunday, we get to the heart of communicating with fashion challenged husbands, to challenging adoptions. It is a show we call Heart.
A MIGHTY HEART
Journalist Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and killed by terrorists six years ago in Pakistan. This compelling and poignant book was written by Daniel's wife Marianne, a courageous woman, who talks about coping with her loss and raising her young son.
THE HEART GALLERY Right now, there are more than 2000 children in Massachusetts hoping for adoption. Among the kids who will probably wait the longest are children of color, those with physical or emotional disabilities, and those who are older.
For many of them, the wait can be endless. That's why the Heart Gallery has been created. The gallery is literally a traveling exhibit that offers potential adoptive parents a closer look at kids like 12 year old Geran. We also talk live to Lisa Funaro of the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange.

JUST THINKING I've been thinking about buying a new television set for more than two years, stymied because quite frankly, there's so much to learn. hd dlp, Lcd or plasma, pixel resolution, field of view the language alone is enough to turn you off. I finally went into the store and talked to a salesperson for more than hour. He must have explained everything at least three times and I'm still didn't really get it.. My search for new fangled technology could have ended right there had it not been for some good old fashioned communications.
The young salesman felt my pain. He led me slowly and patiently through the information over and over again.
Of course he knew how to make a sale but he also knew at the heart of any human transaction
.there has to be room for empathy, one of our most powerful instincts.
In the end the sale was made not only because the customer better understood the product, but because the salesman understood the customer,
empathy is not just about being nice. It allows us to feel what the other is feeling, see another side of the argument. It is the base of our morality.
It is comforting to know that in this age of turbocharged high speed invention, there is still time to walk a mile in another's shoes.
Sunday is proud to present George W. Russell, JR.
