Waiting

(WBZ) Our show for Sunday the 17th is about waiting—at its best –an art form born of patience.

A Father Waits

We will talk to him about his strong faith and how the community at large has rallied to help. We also talk to Francisco Urena from Lawrence Veterans Service about what he does to help soldiers families in for the duration.

Waiting for Baby
What are the newest and most wanted gadgets, gizmos and must haves for new mom and their newborns. Barbara Smith Decker joins us from NAPPA—National Parenting awards with what's new.

Waiting to be Discovered
Nestled in the hustle and bustle of Cambridge, close to Harvard Square is a monastery that offers a blessed relief from the stresses of everyday life.

Don't Keep Them Waiting Around the Dinner Table
Dream Dinners—a new concept in home cooking sets up all the ingredients for you. You carry out a delicious meal ready to be popped into the oven.

JUST THINKING:
It was a familiar scene, the preschooler on the verge of a major meltdown, the mom at wit's end. The dilemma the child wanted the cereal box off the store shelf and opened right away. The woeful mom pleased with the little girl to wait until she got home but as that tantrum grew louder—well you know the end of the story; those little cheeks stuffed full of cocoa puffs, and quiet prevailed. Let's face it nobody likes to wait, in a world that assures us there's no need to. Driveby food, instant coffee, speed dating. I get antsy when the express lane is slowed down. Sos what happens as we are existing on this diet of immediate gratification. The experts say its makes it harder for us to control impulses, to handle challenges. We forget how to improvise, how to use our creativity. Sometimes waiting is the only way we learn to pray, to hope, to appreciate the value of that for which we wait. The psalmist promises a renewal comes with the process. The gift then is as much in the journey as in the journey's end.
