Thief Caught Breaking Into Home Security Store

BOSTON (WBZ) ― It was very early Monday morning when a young man tried to break into a store on Hoods Lane in Marblehead. The suspect walked up to the glass door surveyed, what was inside and then kicked the door in.

What started off as a bad idea became an even worse idea when you find out what kind of store this guy broke into. The suspect broke into HomeLogic – a company that specializes in Internet-based monitoring systems.

"The irony is the guy decided to break into a place, and we've got technology wired all over the place, which, according to police, gave them enough to do a good job and get this guy off the street," HomeLogic Vice President Joe Lautner told The Salem.

Video HomeLogic released showed a man police identified as Francis Connor, 21, kicking in the front door of the store around 3 a.m. When police arrived they were able to see on video everything the thief touched, like the glass door from there they were able to lift his finger prints

Jim Herman of HomeLogic says Connor stole a demonstration kit that's of no value. "He went outside opened it up and saw no use for it and left it by the side of road."

Police found Connor sleeping in a nearby park and arrested him.

Connor faces a number of charges, including breaking and entering and malicious destruction of property. He is also a fugitive from justice in connection with another burglary out of San Diego.
