N.J. Jeweler Sponsors Treasure Hunt To Say Thanks
30 Pieces Of Jewelry Totaling $2,700 To Be Spread Around Several Garden State Communities In 'Finder's Keepers' Game
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. (CBS) ―
How about a free platinum diamond and sapphire ring worth $3,000? Or a white gold diamond necklace worth $2,000? Or any of several bracelets or earrings? They're part of a $2,700 treasure trove that a jeweler is giving away because she wants to give back to the community.
"People have had a challenging year. It's not been easy. So, we want to make people's day," Nancy Schurring said.
Some people might think she's lost her mind, but Schurring, who runs Devon Fine Jewelry in Wyckoff, N.J. is celebrating her 30th year in business with a treasure hunt. She's packing up 30 pieces of jewelry in 30 small bags that have a tag saying, "finder's keepers."
And they are being put around in 20 northern Bergen County towns.
"Some will be outside, some, inside; maybe a bleacher at a game, maybe a supermarket somewhere," Schurring said.
The bags were to be hidden in plain sight. And women who said they like a little bling, just might go look.
"Yeah, of course. If I was out walking around, I'd go search," said Dee Bulick of Midland Park.
Several bags were to be distributed each day thru Friday, by a team of people who have been told to not make the bags too hard to find.
