Man Spends Night Locked In Salem Bar Bathroom
SALEM, Mass. (AP) ―
A customer at a Salem bar was flush with embarrassment after spending the night trapped in a bathroom.
The manager of Gulu-Gulu Cafe says staff arrived at about 8 a.m. Saturday and heard noises coming from the bathroom area.
Manager Laura Walton tells The Salem News they called police because they thought someone was breaking in.
The 26-year-old man told police he got locked in the bathroom when the bar closed at 1 a.m. Saturday but had spent a "comfortable" night. Walton says the man was apologetic, offered to pay his tab, and quickly left.
Police, who did not release the man's name, found no property damage to the cafe but did recommend that bar staff check the bathrooms before locking up in the future.
