Support Pouring In For Homeless Cats
ATTLEBORO (WBZ) ―
The animal shelter holding the 37 cats given up by an Attleboro man says they have received hundreds of e-mails from people looking to adopt the stranded felines.
Steve Burns called the
Friends of Attleboro Animal Shelter on Monday after his home was
foreclosed on. Burns had to find a new place to live and his cats could not go with him, so he dropped them off at the shelter in hopes that they would all find new homes.
Since Burns' story aired on TV, the shelter has received 500 e-mails from people looking to adopt the cats, or send a donation.

None of the cats will be adopted until they are all fixed, which could be as early as the end of next week.
According to Kim Penque, who works at the shelter, the cats are doing well, but they are scared. All of them received rabies and distemper shots on Wednesday.
Those who are interested in adopting a cat, or any other animal at the shelter must fill out an application, said Penque.

People can also go into the shelter and inquire about adopting a pet.
