A newborn deer is alive thanks to a Rockland man who rescued the fawn from the teeth of a coyote.

When Doug Delprete yelled, the coyote dropped the baby deer and ran off.

Doug heard the fawn's cries Wednesday morning and ran out to see what was happening. That's when he saw the coyote attacking the fawn.

After he scared off the coyote, he picked up the trembling deer and carried it to his house.

The baby deer had bite wounds to its head. Doug and his mother fed it goat's milk.

Soon they will try to reunite the fawn with its mother.
