It's possible that stranger things have been found hidden in the streets of Somerville, but a boa constrictor? One was rescued Thursday afternoon in Assembly Square.
Animal Control Officer April Terrio told
The Somerville Journal the snake had some bruising, but was otherwise healthy. She believes someone dumped the pet near the river and it somehow managed to find its way to Central Street.
It's not the first time a slithery creature was discovered in Somerville. A
5-foot ball python was found in a Davis Square backyard in August.
The boa contrictor is now resting comfortably at the Big Fish, Little Fish pet store in Somerville.
