Thieves Slither Off With Pet Store Pythons

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) ― Springfield police are looking for thieves who broke into a pet store and slithered away with a pair of pythons.

The manager of the Petco on Boston Road told police that she opened the store Wednesday morning to find that an aquarium had been broken into and two python snakes were missing. She also said that the ferret cage had been pried open and four ferrets were taken.

Police Sgt. John Delaney says police are looking at the store's surveillance tapes for possible clues.

It was not the first pet shop robbery in Springfield this year. In May, a man broke into Dave's Soda & Pet City after closing and made off with 50 parakeets. No arrests have been made in that case.
