Local Woman Sings Away Her Gas Price Frustrations
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ) ―
While everyone is fed up about with the outrageous gas prices, one Framingham woman is expressing her frustrations by singing creative tunes.
In her one-bedroom apartment in Framingham, Sandra Lewis protests the high prices with song.
"Every time I fill my tank I do a double take," she sang. "Feels like 1977, there must be some mistake."
"It's me and my cats and my teaching so it's like get a hobby," Lewis explained. "So I have a hobby now."
By day she teaches middle school French. At night in front of her computer she creates melodies inspired by the gas prices.
"I just write songs in my head. I don't read or write or play music but I can hear the tune in my head," Lewis said.
From her head to her mouth, a song of protest the likes of which we haven't seen since the 1960s is created. Her only problem is her audience right now is her computer and her cats.
"I don't know what to do with it," she said.
Her message is elected leaders have to do something.
"Maybe someone's doing something, but I haven't seen any indication that anyone is doing anything about these gas prices," Lewis said.
Lewis has written other songs, and now has put a couple on iTunes.
She said she is inspired to write another song after going to the grocery store where she says she experiences another frustration -- the high cost of groceries.
