Minn. Man Arrested For Leaving Baby By Strip Club
HOULTON, Wis. (CBS) ―
A Maplewood, Minn. man was arrested after leaving a 6-month-old baby inside a vehicle outside a Wisconsin strip club for up to three hours, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff.
The incident happened Wednesday night. Deputies were dispatched to the Cajun Club in Houlton, Wis. on a report of a child locked in a vehicle there, Sheriff Dennis Hillestad said.
They found the child in the car and ran a check on the vehicle's identification numbers. The owner, David Mantor, was paged in the club and arrested for misdemeanor child neglect, according to Hillestad.
Authorities said the baby appeared responsive and did not appear to be in distress, though exposed parts of his body were noted to be cold.
The child was taken to Hudson Hospital for further inspection, where it was determined to have suffered frostbite. The baby remained hospitalized Thursday morning, authorities said.
The mother bailed out Mantor, who is also her boyfriend, according to Hillestad.
Authorities are considering whether charges in addition to those pending for misdemeanor child endangerment can be pursued.
