May 12th Weather Trivia Answer
purple...
On our First Alert Doppler Radar, the intensity of the rain is displayed in numerous colors. The heaviest rainfall that can be picked up by our First Alert Doppler radar is displayed in a purple color. This is a very heavy, intense rainfall. To see a purple signature on our Doppler is very rare. It sometimes is associated with very severe thunderstorms.
A light green color on the Doppler usually signifies light rain even drizzle. Then a darker green shade signifies a more moderate rain. Sometimes within the dark green you will see bands of yellow, this signifies a moderate to heavy rainfall. Within the bands of yellow, red shades are apparent, and this usually signifies a very heavy rain on the Doppler. It's only within these bands of red would a shade of purple appear.
