David is in a need of a permanent, loving family.
WBZ
David is a lovable Caucasian youngster with an easy temperament. He is thriving in his current foster home where he has learned to dress himself and is continuing to build his knowledge of basic skills. David is in a need of a permanent, loving family that would be strong advocates for him throughout his life.
David, 7, has autism and attends a specialized school for children with autism. He is non-verbal and has significant challenges related to his special needs. David has made steady progress both at home and in school due to the strong partnership between his foster mother and his school. David interacts very well with the adults in his life and is well-liked by teachers and others. Although he does not interact with the other children, David watches them and attempts to copy their behavior and play patterns.
David enjoys exploring his environment and benefits from constant supervision. He likes using his sense of touch and testing out how his toys and other objects feel by knocking them together. David enjoys being outside, especially on windy days when he can spend hours watching the trees blow in the wind. He currently takes part in a therapeutic riding program where he has grown to be able to use simple commands for his horse. Other favorite activities include swinging on swings and riding his tricycle.
David is legally free for adoption and would do well in a family of any constellation in which there are either no children or older children. David could continue growing, learning and thriving under the guidance of a patient, loving family that would help him to reach his potential.
To learn more about David, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.mareinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
