Briana d.o.b. 3/1992

Briana is a 12-year-old African-American girl with a pretty smile and an equally terrific disposition. Outgoing and popular with her peers, Briana demonstrates leadership abilities. She is a loyal friend and tends to look out for the people close to her. Her social worker is seeking a family who will relieve Briana of her care taking role and allow her to enjoy the rest of her childhood.

Briana is currently in the sixth grade, and her goal is to further her education and become a veterinarian when she grows up. She loves animals and enjoyed taking care of a kitten in her former foster home. Briana does well academically and is in the top reading group in school. During a recent open house, she was so proud to show off her academic and art projects, including a ceramic bowl she had made using a real leaf. In her spare time, Briana likes to draw, play basketball and soccer, and try new activities.

Since March of 2004, Briana has lived in a residential home where she is helpful and willingly does her share of the chores. Due to her history, Briana has had to grow up quickly and learn to look after herself. She is a resilient young girl who has worked hard on her coping skills. Briana has made tremendous behavioral progress with the structure and support she has received.

Briana is legally free for adoption and is ready for a family to call her own. She has shown she can form healthy relationships with caretakers, such as her Big Sister. Briana wants a single mom or a two-parent family that is "active, fun and takes her places." As along as she can stay in contact with her two younger siblings, she is less concerned with the family's background. Briana has a great deal of potential that could be realized once she has the love, stability and commitment from a family.
