Max d.o.b. 5/1993
Max is a talented young man who will most likely become a professional artist when he is older. He is detail-oriented and enjoys using all types of art mediums. Max especially loves to draw pictures of landscapes and build models, like the miniature working landfill he made in science class. Max has thought about his future and hopes he will have an adoptive family by his side to help guide him, as well as share in his successes.
Generally quiet and guarded at times, 11-year-old Max opens up once he's had time to develop a trusting relationship with someone new. Max's social worker describes him as a "mellow, go-with-the-flow" type of child who is quick thinking and has a dry wit. She says he has good sportsmanship, shares well and wants his peers to have the spotlight.
In school, Max is a solid B student and strives to make even further gains. He can work independently and likes going to the library to find books that will challenge him. His favorite subjects are math and art. Max has said he wants to go to college, get a good job and have a family of his own someday. He has an orange belt in Tai Chi and would like to advance in it. Max also likes baseball and Manny Ramirez is his favorite player on the Red Sox.
Since he has been at his residential home, Max has made great progress in improving his behavioral challenges. Although he has done a lot of work and is clearly ready for a family, he will continue to benefit from having structure and a predictable routine in a home. He would also do well in a calm environment with patient parents.
Max is eager to find a permanent family and would love to be an only child in a home where he would get lots of attention. He has also expressed that he would like to have a mom and dad or just a mom.
Max is of Latino and Italian heritage, however, he does not speak Spanish. He has contact with his siblings, which will be in his best interest to maintain. Legally free for adoption, Max deserves a chance to have a family who will love him unconditionally, as well as encourage him to do his best.
