Wednesday's Child: 12-Year-Old Samantha

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Samantha, or Sam to her friends, is a kind and friendly young lady of Caucasian descent. She has a bright smile and an infectious laugh that makes her endearing. Samantha would love to find an active family that shares her love of the outdoors and animals.

No matter what outdoor game is being played, 12-year-old Sam will eagerly join in the fun. Her favorite sports include basketball and soccer, and she also enjoys swimming. When she cannot be outdoors, Sam enjoys making beaded necklaces and doing arts and crafts. Samantha loves mint-flavored ice cream, and her favorite color is baby blue.

Sam's love for animals shines through when she has the opportunity to be around them. Her favorites are pigs, dogs and horses. She hopes to work with animals when she gets older.

Samantha currently lives in a residential program and benefits from the supports that she receives at school and at home. She has mild global delays and is making positive strides in both her academics and in her peer relations. Science and math are her favorite subjects. Samantha gets along well with the adults in her life.

Legally free for adoption, Samantha would do well in a two-parent or a single parent female home with or without other children. A family that is open to birth family contact would be ideal. Samantha has a lot to bring to a family that would accept her for who she is and that would shower her with the love and support she needs to continue thriving.

To learn more about Samantha, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.mareinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
