Wednesday's Child: 15-Year-Old Cassandra

(WBZ) Cassie is an expressive, sweet, and personable adolescent with a smile that lights up the room. She's open to trying new activities and thrives on individual attention from adults.

Cassie describes herself as fun, energetic and creative. Thoughtful and affectionate, she likes to give hugs to the people close to her. Cassie is an animal lover who has fun drawing and playing board games, and shopping. A typical young teen, Cassie loves the Jonas Brothers and is a huge High School Musical fan.

Academically, Cassie does well in math and is working hard in her other subjects. She is an avid reader and enjoys reading to others. Her cognitive and speech delays have improved with speech therapy, and she continues to work on understanding her past with the help of available supports.

Legally free for adoption, Cassie is excited about being adopted and says she wants a nice and fun family. She would especially love to have a mom and an older sister. Her social worker is seeking either a single or two-parent family that preferably has parenting experience. It is important to Cassie that she remains in contact with members of her birth family.

To learn more about Cassie, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.mareinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
