Wednesday's Child: 11-Year-Old Angelique
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
A charming little girl, 11-year-old Angleique, loves horseback riding and drawing. She hopes to find a family so she can have people she can talk to.
Angelique's Story:
Angelique, 11, is an active, interesting, and inquisitive Caucasian girl. She enjoys a wealth of activities, from horseback riding, swimming and soccer to watching the Disney and Nickelodeon tv channels, reading books from the Goosebumps series and listening to rap and country music.
Angelique engages in many of her favorite activities with her Big Sister through the Big Brother/Big Sister program. Angelique has not lived in a family setting for some time and is ready to belong in a family of her own.
At school, Angelique's teachers describe her as "bright, energetic, and one who takes pride in her work." Now in the fourth grade, she likes arts and crafts and would like to learn how to draw. Angelique continues to grow in the predictable and consistent environment that her school provides. She is building her self-confidence and working on her behavioral and emotional needs, as well her peer relations through special education services. When she grows up, Angelique would like to be a veterinarian.
Angelique also thrives from the predictability and consistency at home.
She currently resides in a residential group home where she interacts well with adults, especially one-on-one. Angelique responds well to clear, positive expectations, calm requests, reminders and goals.
Angelique would do best with a patient family that would allow her to slowly transition into a new home, so she can build trust at her own pace. She has endured many losses in her life and will need time to connect with a family.
Angelique's greatest wish is to find a family she can call her own. She would blossom in a home comprised of a single mother, or two parents with no other children or one child who is significantly older, so she can receive the attention she craves and needs. Angelique is legally free for adoption.
