Wednesday's Child: 10-Year-Old Devin

(WBZ) Devin is an easy-going, active youngster with a winning smile. In his spare time, he loves riding his bicycle and his scooter, spending time outside and going to the beach in the summer. He is creative and enjoys using his hands.

When Devin gets older, he may like to become a mechanic or possibly captain a tug boat. Devin is seeking an active adoptive family that enjoys the outdoors and can appreciate his uniqueness.

Devin, 10, is of Caucasian and Indian descent. He is quiet at first but he opens up once he is comfortable around you. He has a great sense of humor and likes telling jokes. Devin is interested in cars, boats, tractors, gadgets, tools and other activities children his age might not.

Devin currently receives supports in school for his academic needs. He is thriving in a small classroom setting. Speech, language and reading are the areas that he is experiencing delays.

Devin is legally free for adoption and would do well in a single or two-parent home. If there are other children in the home, it would be best if they were close in age to Devin or older. Devin lives in a foster home where he is responsive to an involved male caregiver. It will be important to Devin to maintain contact with his biological mother.

To learn more about Devin, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.mareinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
