Alax, or AJ, is an energetic, personable 14-year-old Caucasian boy who likes helping others. He especially enjoys working with an adult on a hands-on task. He has friendly, positive attitude that endears him to others. AJ is looking forward to joining an active family in which he might have a dad who shares his interest in sports.
AJ considers himself an athlete and enjoys playing basketball, soccer and football. He also likes attending the Boys and Girls Club. According to AJ, his other talents include juggling, drawing and playing video games. AJ volunteers at a farmers market and goes the extra mile with his job. When he gets older, he would like to attend college. He is also setting his sights on learning a trade and maybe becoming a plumber because he is good with his hands.
AJ recently transitioned into a new residential home and did very well with the adjustment. He benefits from consistency, structure and clear limit setting as needed. AJ also likes working towards incentives. He attends an on grounds school and has an Individualized Educational Plan which addresses needs such as learning to work independently and increasing his self-esteem and social skills. AJ is in therapy to address issues related to trauma from his past. He is a strong advocate for himself and can be a positive role model for other children and teens in the program.
AJ is ready to move into an adoptive home. He would prefer a two-parent family but would consider a single parent. If there were other siblings in the home, they would need to be older. AJ is legally freed for adoption and should have some contact with his birth family.
To learn more about Alax, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit
www.mareinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
