Wednesday's Child: 12-Year-Old Tyrell

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Outgoing, lovable and inquisitive are a few words that come to mind when describing 12-year-old Tyrell. This bright African American sixth grader has a keen sense of humor and loves to engage in conversation. Legally free for adoption, Tyrell is ready to join a permanent loving family and would like to be able to live in a diverse neighborhood.

Tyrell enjoys school and would like to attend college one day. He is academically on target, but does receive special educational services for emotional support. After school, he goes to the Boys' and Girls' Club. Tyrell gets along well with other children and can be kind and nurturing to younger children.

A sports enthusiast, Tyrell has played on baseball and football teams, and has taken gymnastics and karate classes. He enjoys riding his bike and rollerblading. Additionally, Tyrell is adept with computers and likes playing video games. He is a good artist and enjoys drawing. Tyrell also loves to read and have his own books.

Currently, Tyrell is in a foster home where he is doing well. His foster mother states that he is generally well behaved, but may occasionally tantrum when he is stressed or does not get his way.

Tyrell would do best in a home with older children, especially an older brother, as he thrives on being in a large, active family. The family should be open to the possibility of Tyrell having some contact with his siblings and other family members.

To learn more about Tyrell, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.mareinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
