Wednesday's Child: 10-Year-Old Jansil

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Jansil is a happy, caring and engaging youngster who usually has a huge smile on his face. Jansil has a positive attitude and charms just about everyone he meets. He is of Latino descent and speaks both English and Spanish.

Jansil,10, can often be found with headphones on listening to his favorite music, including songs from High School Musical. He has a good singing voice and has won a few local singing contests. Though Jansil was born with cerebral palsy, he's quite resourceful and doesn't let his challenges keep him from doing what he enjoys. He has limited motor skills and uses mostly crutches to get around. His caregivers and professionals are working with him towards a goal of walking independently one day, and he continues to make gains.

Jansil currently lives in a foster home where he accepts limits and has developed a positive relationship with his foster family. Now in the fourth grade, Jansil loves school and is on grade level in reading. Special education services and redirection help him to stay on task. When Jansil gets older, he might like to become a teacher.

Jansil has endured much in his young life, but is resilient. He is ready for the love and understanding of a permanent family who will help him to access needed supports and maintain contact with his birth family. Jansil would be happy having a single or two-parent family with older or younger children, and he would enjoy having household pets. Legally free for adoption, Jansil is an empathic boy who could bring much love and joy into a home.

To learn more about Jansil, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.mareinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
