Mother, Daughter Killed In Maine Crash

AUBURN, Maine (AP) ― Police in Auburn are investigating a traffic accident that killed a 36-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter.

Police say the accident happened on Minot Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday when a pickup truck hauling an enclosed trailer crossed the center line and struck the woman's oncoming car.

Officials say the Auburn woman was killed instantly and her daughter later died at Central Maine Medical Center. The driver of the pickup truck and a passenger were hospitalized in critical condition.

Police have not released the names of the victims.
