Passenger Count Rises At Bangor Airport

BANGOR, Maine (AP) ― The passenger count at Bangor International Airport jumped 12 percent in September over a year earlier after a slight dip in August.

Airport Director Rebecca Hupp told the Bangor Daily News that the numbers were buoyed by increased service from US Airways and Allegiant Air.

The boost by those two carriers helped offset the loss of Continental Airlines, which halted its twice-daily service from Bangor to Newark, N.J., at the end of July.

For the first nine months of the year, the passenger total is up 8 percent over the same period of 2008.
