Maine Maritime Academy has chosen a Maine native with extensive experience in maritime issues to be its next president.
The board of trustees announced Friday that it has selected William Brennan of Falmouth to become the 14th person to head the Castine school.

He is expected to be on the job in May. He takes over for Leonard Tyler, the school's president since 1995.
