Bill Clinton To Present NH Award To Honor Lantos

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ― Former President Bill Clinton will be presenting the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society's Life and Liberty Award to Tom Lantos, the late congressman who was the only Holocaust survivor to be elected to the House.

Lantos, a Democrat who represented California, died in 2008. He is the father of New Hampshire Democratic activist Katrina Swett.

The Dec. 2 event will recognize Lantos' lifelong commitment to human rights and is sponsored by the Supreme Court Society. It is scheduled at 5 p.m. at the state Supreme Court.

Lantos' wife, Annette Lantos, will accept the award, which recognizes a person who has exhibited outstanding character, courage, and commitment in guarding and defending these rights and who has performed exceptional deeds in that pursuit.
