NH Oil Heat Council Helps Soldiers' With Oil
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ―
The Oil Heat Council of New Hampshire is continuing its program to help military families when their spouse is deployed overseas.
"Operation Helping Hand" works in conjunction with the New Hampshire National Guard.
Over the last five years the council has donated 48,000 gallons of fuel from more than 100 dealers to 310 New Hampshire families.
Council President Bob Garside says the program is to recognize the sacrifices of service men and women.
Last year the program was available to retired and disabled veterans.
But Garside said that this year the program will only be available to families of active duty personnel, both National Guard and reserve.
